Before We Were: Kiana Honarmand

Kiana Honarmand is an Iranian artist whose work addresses issues related to her lived experiences. Her multi-media work explores concepts such as censorship, surveillance, Western perception of the Middle East, and violation of women’s rights in Iran. Honarmand’s mastery skill in a variety of art mediums demonstrates the artist’s determination to utilize different art making processes and mediums to understand her cultural identity. Before We Were elegantly reflects upon the topic of immigration and the stigma around it through the lenses of natural, elemental forces.
